"Curiosity remains one of life's greatest gifts."

The Writer Who Asks Why

Olga Foreign is a writer, poet, podcaster, and creator who spends much of her time observing the world and wondering why people believe the things they do.

Through books, conversations, poetry, designs, and live events, Olga explores the stories we tell ourselves about identity, truth, memory, justice, success, aging, love, and the many misunderstandings that shape our lives. Her work often begins with a simple observation, an unusual question, or a phrase most people overlook. From there, it grows into poems, novels, conversations, and sometimes even a T-shirt.

"Conversations matter. Questions are often more valuable than answers. And curiosity remains one of life's greatest gifts."

As the creator and host of Who Yelling Now?, Olga invites guests and listeners to examine assumptions, challenge familiar narratives, and explore ideas that are often accepted without question. Her books range from poetry and philosophical fiction to children's stories and imaginative worlds — all connected by a curiosity about what it means to be human.

This website is the home for her work. Whether you arrived looking for a book, a poem, a podcast episode, an event, or a thoughtful design — welcome. Take a look around.

I Have Always Been Fascinated by People.

The things we say. The things we mean. The things we misunderstand. And the stories we tell ourselves about the world.

Much of my work begins with an observation, a question, or a conversation that refuses to leave me alone. Those ideas eventually become poems, books, podcast episodes, designs, and sometimes entire worlds filled with characters who continue asking questions long after I think I have found an answer.

"You may find something you weren't looking for."

The title of my podcast, Who Yelling Now?, comes from my grandmother. When I was a child, cousins, brothers, sisters, and friends would gather at her farm. As children do, we played, argued, fought, and occasionally someone would get hurt. My grandmother would sit on the porch watching over us. Eventually a cry would ring out across the yard, and she would call out: "Who yelling now?"

The injured child would appear, usually accompanied by the accused. The rest of us would follow behind as if court were about to begin. My grandmother would listen to both sides, determine what had happened, offer a bandage, a story, a lesson, or a stern talking-to — and somehow send us all back out to play.

Many years later, I realized that much of life still works that way. We arrive carrying our version of the story, hoping someone will listen, understand, and help us make sense of it. That spirit lives at the heart of Who Yelling Now?

Another character — the Sloth Detective — was inspired by a family member who is endlessly curious, highly educated, and deeply interested in everyone's business. Despite having the best intentions, they rarely seem to solve the mysteries they investigate. The Sloth Detective became my affectionate tribute to curiosity, persistence, and the humorous reality that sometimes the search itself is more entertaining than the answer.

Today my work includes books, poetry, conversations, designs, live events, and whatever else curiosity happens to create next.
